Troubleshooting overview
Most messages you see in Sales Scribe are there to protect your accounts — for example, stopping you editing an invoice that has already been sent to a customer and recorded in your books. This section explains the common ones and what to do about them.
How Sales Scribe shows problems
- A specific message (for example, "Only Issued invoices can be voided") tells you exactly what to do. These pages explain the ones you are most likely to meet.
- A green success message confirms an action worked.
- A general message with a reference code — "Something went wrong. Please try again — if it keeps happening, contact support and quote reference XXXXXX." — appears when something unexpected happened. The reference lets our support team find the details in the logs. See I see a generic error with a reference.

A few general tips
- "This record was changed by someone else." A colleague saved a change to the same record while you had it open. Refresh the page to see their version, then re-apply your change.
- "No organization selected." Choose an organisation from the switcher in the top bar first. If you have none, you will be guided to create one — see Create your account and first organisation.
- Something is greyed out or missing. It may depend on your role, your subscription, or the document's current status.
