Create your account and first organisation

Getting started takes two stages: first you create your sign-in (your user account), then a short wizard helps you create your first Organization and its address. You need both before you can create invoices.

Before you begin

  • You need a working email address. You must confirm it before you can sign in.
  • Have your business details handy: business name, country, home currency and whether you are registered for VAT.

Step 1: Sign up

  1. Go to the Sales Scribe sign-in page and select Register as a new user (or Register in the top bar).
  2. On Create a new account, enter your Email, First Name, Last Name and a Password.
    • Your password must be at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit (and use at least three different characters).
  3. Re-enter the password in Confirm Password and select Register.

Note: Where it is available you can instead choose Sign in with Google and skip the password step. You may also be asked to pass a reCAPTCHA check.

Confirm your email

After you register, Sales Scribe sends a verification link to your email address. Open the message and select the link.

  • The page reminds you to check your email for the verification link — if it does not arrive, look in your spam folder.
  • You cannot sign in until your email is confirmed. If the confirmation email did not arrive, use Resend email confirmation on the sign-in page.

Step 2: Set up your first organisation

The first time you sign in, Sales Scribe opens the Get Started wizard. It has three steps shown across the top: Organization, Address and Ready.

Create the organisation

On Step 1: Create Organization, complete:

  • Organization Name — your business name.
  • Country and Currency — the currency becomes your organisation's home (functional) currency. It starts as your country's currency; change it if your books are kept in another. Then tick I confirm my base currency is … — it cannot be changed once the organisation is created. See Set your functional currency.
  • Organization Type and Business Type — the business type sets your starting Chart of Accounts.
  • Organization is VAT registered — switch this on if you charge VAT, then enter your VAT Number, the VAT registration date (the effective date on your VAT registration certificate — your first VAT return starts no earlier) and your VAT accounting scheme (standard accounting unless you use another). The date is required once you've switched VAT registration on.
  • Invoice Template — the design used on your documents (you can change this later).

Select Create Organization. Your new organisation is automatically made your default organisation.

Tip: Not ready to use your real details? Select Explore with sample data to create a ready-made sample company to click around in first. It sits alongside your real organisation and can be deleted at any time.

Add the organisation's address

On Step 2: Add Organization Address, enter your business address (Address Line 1, City, Country and the other fields) and select Add Address & Continue. This becomes your organisation's first location — its default Trading and Delivery address (see Edit your organisation details).

When both steps are done, the Ready step tells you your organisation is ready. Select Go to your dashboard to start — add customers and products, connect your accountant, and create your first invoice when you're ready — or Manage organisation to review your details. If you were sent to the wizard from another page, Continue where you left off takes you back there.

What happens next

You land on your Dashboard. A short Getting started checklist appears there until you have created invoices.

Warning: You cannot create invoices until you have a default organisation that has an address. If you skip the address step, Sales Scribe sends you back to the wizard when you try to invoice. You can always add one later from Settings → Organization → Locations → Add location.

Troubleshooting

  • I never received the confirmation email. Check your spam folder, then use Resend email confirmation on the sign-in page. If your account was created but the email failed to send, the confirmation page offers a link to resend it or to contact support.
  • My password was rejected. Make sure it has at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit.
  • It keeps asking me to add an address. Open Settings → Organization and select Add location on the Locations card, then try again.
