Revenue by customer report

The Revenue by Customer report shows how much revenue each customer generated over a period. It is the earned-revenue view of your sales — issued invoices less any credit notes — so you can see who your biggest customers are and how much each contributed.

Before you begin

  • Sign in and select your organisation. The report is available on every plan.
  • Figures are shown in your functional currency and are net of VAT (the tax is excluded, so you see the underlying sales value).
  • The report is on an accrual basis: it counts revenue when you issue an invoice, not when the customer pays. For cash actually received per customer, use Payments by Customer.

Open the report

  1. Go to Reports and, under Sales, open Revenue by Customer.
  2. Choose a period with the Reporting Period selector (a preset such as This quarter, or a custom From/To range).

How to read it

Three summary cards give you the totals:

  • Net Revenue — total invoiced less credited, across all customers, for the period.
  • Invoiced (net of tax) — the value of issued sales invoices before any credit notes.
  • Customers — how many customers had activity in the period.

If any customer has positive net revenue, a Top Customers by Net Revenue bar chart highlights your largest customers (up to ten).

The Revenue per Customer table lists every customer with activity, with columns:

  • Customer — links to the customer's account.
  • Invoices — the number of issued invoices.
  • Invoiced net — invoiced value, excluding VAT.
  • Credited — the value of sales credit notes issued to that customer, which is subtracted.
  • Net revenue — invoiced less credited: the customer's contribution.
  • % of total — that customer's share of total net revenue.

What counts as revenue here

  • Included: issued sales invoices (net of VAT), with issued sales credit notes subtracted.
  • Excluded: drafts, voided invoices, and invoices you have written off as bad debt. Quotes, estimates and proforma invoices never count because they do not affect your accounts.
  • Also excluded: invoices and credit notes brought across in your opening position. They carry what was still outstanding when you moved, and their revenue was earned before your records on Sales Scribe begin.

If your range starts before your records begin, the Net revenue heading says records from 31 Mar 2026 only, with your date: the figures cover the part of the range your records hold.

Note: Because written-off invoices are excluded, an invoice you have written off stops adding to a customer's revenue here. (This differs from the VAT Summary, which still includes the VAT you originally charged on a written-off invoice.)

Export

Select Export CSV to download the per-customer figures, with a header block recording the report, organisation, basis, period and currency.
