Sign in and out
This article covers signing in and out of Sales Scribe, and the security measures that protect your account — email confirmation, temporary lockout after failed attempts, and automatic sign-out when you have been inactive.
Before you begin
- You need a registered account with a confirmed email address. If you have not registered yet, see Create your account and first organisation.
- Go to the sign-in page (Login in the top bar).
- On Sign in to your account, enter your Email and Password.
- Optionally tick Remember me to stay signed in on this device.
- Select Log in.
Where it is available, you can instead select Sign in with Google.
The sign-in page also links to:
- Forgot your password? — to reset a password you cannot remember.
- Register as a new user — to create an account.
- Resend email confirmation — if you never confirmed your email.
Note: Sign-in is protected by reCAPTCHA, so you may occasionally be asked to complete a quick "I'm not a robot" check.
If you use an authenticator app
After your password, you're asked for the 6-digit code your authenticator app shows.
- Each code works once. If you've just used a code — to sign in, or to confirm something — wait for your app to show the next one, then enter that.
- A wrong code counts toward the temporary lockout, as a wrong password does.
- No access to your app? Use one of your recovery codes instead (the link on the code page). Each recovery code also works once; if one isn't accepted, check you typed it as it was given to you, or use another.
Sign out
Select Log out in the top bar (next to your name), or Log out in the Profile section of the left-hand menu.
Security measures to know about
Email confirmation is required. You cannot sign in until you have confirmed your email address. If you try before confirming, use Resend email confirmation.
Repeated failures lock the account temporarily. After several incorrect password attempts your account is locked for a short period as a protection against guessing. You will see a Locked out message: "This account has been locked out, please try again later." Wait a little while and try again, or reset your password.
You are signed out after inactivity. For security you are automatically signed out after a period of inactivity (about 30 minutes). Shortly before that, a Session Expiring message appears with a countdown and a Stay Logged In button — select it to remain signed in.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid login attempt". Check your email and password. Remember that email must be confirmed first.
- I'm locked out. Wait a short while before trying again. If you are unsure of your password, use Forgot your password? to reset it.
- I didn't get the password-reset or confirmation email. Check your spam folder, then request it again from the sign-in page.
- I was signed out unexpectedly. This is usually the inactivity time-out. Sign in again; tick Remember me to stay signed in longer on a trusted device.
